Song Types

Music For Mature Souls: 120 different melodies, about half with lyrics

Love themes (e.g. “First Love”, “Lovers And Other Strangers”), Love Ballads (e.g. “Pilgrim Soul”, “Starting Over”), lullabies, marches, waltzes, nocturnes, patriotic songs (“The Last Salute”, “The Best And The Bravest”), funeral songs (graveside, wake; “Elegy: Salute And Farewell”, “Journey’s End”, “All Things Pass”, “Just Movin On”), lighthearted ballads (e.g. “A Fine Spring Day”, “A Walk In The Park”, “The Old Steam Train”), songs for the environment (“Song Of The Earth”), plus much more. Played mostly on individual instruments without accompaniment, these songs have a unique feel, but could easily be adapted for popular venues. Most importantly, they fit together for an enjoyable easy listening experience.

Music For America: 19 selections (currently)

This set of songs was written in late 2020 to mark the incredible events of that not so great year. A global COVID 19 epidemic, a corrupt president, a mad presidential election and rioters storming the Capital building. Two songs, “America By Name” and “America Lost And Found” are patriotic anthems for America. “Come Be My Hero” is a straightforward appeal for heroes in modern times. “Dangerous Times” documents some of the things that disrupted our daily lives. “Devious Spell” imagines that everything we experienced was simply an evil spell. “Perilous Times” is an anthem with a strong melody that says all you need to know (or forget) about 2020. “Rhapsody” is actually unrelated to 2020, but has been included here as a soothing alternative to recent events. “Rhapsody” is a woman whose name describes her extraordinary power to sweep us away from bad times. Then there are 2 similar songs inspired by the events of 2020, Where Heroes Dare To Go and Where Are We Going. The first is a soft ballad with a lovely melody and abstract lyrics, and the second is a more direct lament on the specific problems that 2020 presented. There are also 4 songs from Music for Mature Souls: The Best And The Bravest, The Last Salute, Reveille For Heaven and Pure Michigan.

Instruments

First a caveat. The software that generates the music is not perfect. In a few instances, it may not capture the true timbre of an instrument on a given note. In these cases the closest match to the desired one was used.

The violin is the most common instrument, Some songs using multiple strings. Woodwinds are next most common, principally flute, oboe and clarinet.. There are about a dozen piano scores, including some a fun piece mimicking a steam locomotive and another saluting the Great American Eclipse of 2017. There are also several songs played on guitar, but the guitar is not the type of sound this music is designed to showcase.

Keep in mind that the music is computer generated. There are some things the synthesizer can’t do, for example slurring notes. Free updates will be will be provided as the song collection is improved (e.g. by actually recording the music as it is performed by live artists) if you register for updates at checkout.
