Science and art tend to coalesce in esthetics, plasticity and form. The greatest scientists are always artists as well.
— Albert Einstein
I believe the abominable deterioration of ethical standards stems primarily from the mechanization and depersonalization of our lives — a disastrous byproduct of science and technology (1946)

Science and Art

Hopefully it is not only great scientists, but mainstream scientists and engineers who are artists as well. It is just that technologically oriented professionals are not specifically trained as artists, nor do they spend much time contemplating how to expand their creative talents into the mainstream areas of art.

Artful Scholar is the corporate name under which Walter Fechner markets his photography and music. The name, inspired by the Artful Dodger in Dickens’ Oliver Twist, reinforces the idea of the connection between art and science.

Artful Scholar exists to reinforce the idea that we need to spend more time on the things that make us human, such as art in all its forms. Technology, conversely, is leading to a world of machines which will not appreciate human values to the extent that humans do. That is a recipe for disaster.

Artful Scholar: The Art In Technology

In the near future, scientists and engineers may push the frontiers of technology to include as yet unknown types of artistic beauty., extending art to entirely new forms, using neural networks or AI for example. We can start this process today, by creating new music (like this website) and nature images (at Nature So Lovely).

So check the Music blog on this website for periodic updates on Music For Mature Souls. There will be a separate science/technology blog, covering select topics of interest. Individuals developing their own projects similar to Artful Scholar, use the contact page to let Artful Scholar spread the news about their artistic endeavors..
